Tarte SmolderEYES

Tarte is a brand I've long been interested in. Sadly, it's not something I can get hold of in the UK. So please don't hate me, when I had to take full advantage of snapping up this SmolderEYES limited edition liner collection from Sephora.

The collection includes SmolderEYES pencils in Golden Beige, Moss, Violet, Espresso, Smoke and Silver Black and retails for $39 (including a pencil sharpener - so handy!!) The pencils are waterproof and are paraben free. The smudger tip is a really useful addition to the pencil, enabling you to create a true smoky, smudgy eye without the need for additional brushes. $39 for the set is a bit of a steal, when a single pencil retails for $25. It was a no brainer for me!

I've used these a few times and I am really impressed with their longevity. The first time I spotted them, I swatched them all over my hand - not too dissimilar to the picture below, made some purchases and headed off for the day. I kid you not, I couldn't get rid of these liners through various thorough hand washings throughout the day. People must have thought I was mental - Oh well! When I got back to the hotel and removed the swatches (with a bit of a scrub) with eye make-up remover, I knew I would have to buy them.

I have also used Smoke and Violet as an all over eye colour to great success. Golden Beige would probably create a pretty, quick everyday look. These pencils remind me quite a lot of the infamous Avon SuperShock liners. They're creamy, effortless to blend - well, as long as you are quick! And they stay put. What more can a girl ask for?!

Anyone else tried Tarte products? Any recommendations?

Springtime Shopping at No7

After a surprise early escape from work on Friday, I found myself in Boots. Luckily I had remembered that I had a few of the No7 £5 vouchers to use. So I treated myself to the No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water (from the normal/oily collection) and the most beautiful pink cream blusher from the new Floral Brights collection, called Blooming Pink.

Look at how gorgeous this is and it's SO pigmented! I cannot wait to try this out. The packaging is really fun too. Those vivid flowers on a white background were a good choice (well done Boots/No7/Lisa Eldridge), it really stands out amongst the other rudimentary No7 packaging.

I'm really pleased with my little bargains. I love the No7 vouchers. I'm sure it wont be long until they are back in circulation...again!

NOTD: NARS Endless Night

Evening all.

I'm still here...

Just!!

I've been so wrapped up in work a the moment, that I haven't really had a moment to blog.

However, I'm practicing iPhone blogging tonight through the blogger app. For my first iPhone post, I thought I'd share a recent NOTD from NARS (pre the great nail masacre - January 2012).

Endless Night (from the Holiday 2011 collection) was a Christmas gift from Nic. She knows me so well, this vampy blackened grape shade is right up my street. It's not hugely different from OPI Lincoln Park After Dark - one of my faves. It's one of those colours that is perfect for any occassion. I love nail colours like this, they work with any outfit.

I really enjoyed the formulation, the super glossy finish and it seemed to wear quite well too. I think I may have to dabble in more NARS nail colours... Oh no!! I can hear my bank balance groaning!

As usual, Nic and I were on the same page. By total fluke, I treated Nic to some NARS for Christmas, too! One of these days, I'm pretty sure we will end up buying each other the exact same thing! Until then, we'll keep practicing.

Anyone else had a dabble with NARS nail varnish? Any colours I should pay special attention to?

Origins, Reuse.Reduce.Recycle.

Am I the last person to know about this scheme?

If like me you have no idea about the programme, Origins offer a recycling service for our used up cosmetic tubes, bottles and jars. I always throw my empties in with my recycling but Origins say that often the packaging isn't easy to recycle and so they can end up in landfill anyway! Annoying!

Origins commit to recycle or use the packages for energy recovery. Go Origins!

I also read that Origins will give you a product for your donation, cool!

New Acquisitions

Don't you just love it when shitty weeks are punctuated with nice surprises?

With that thought in mind, My Naked2 palette arrived on Wednesday (Thank you to The Boy! x). In true Beauty Blogger spirit, I refused to use it until I could take some vaguely suitable photographs. I love the original Naked palette, so I cannot imagine any reason why I wouldn't feel the same about Naked2. I did wonder if they might be a little similar, but no. As reported by a million makeup fans and bloggers, Naked2 is a cooler range of tones. I love it.

As you'll all probably know by now, the No7 £5 vouchers are back in circulation at Boots. So when I met Nic yesterday, I grabbed another No7 Eyeshadow Blend and Contour Brush. I use these little brushes every day and for a bargain £2.25, it was a no brainer. I don't know about you, but I can't seem to get rid of these vouchers. Every time you use one, you get another in return! Any other recommendations of No7 items to spend the vouchers on? I'm open to suggestions.

Hand in hand with the shitty week, came a touch of self sabotage as I started picking at my nails. Which in turn lead to me biting them and ultimately resulted in me filing them right down. What a sad state of affairs. I had got them to a nice length, shape and I was really happy with them. Can you tell how unimpressed I was, with me having to file them all down? Anyway, I have now invested in a bottle of Mavala Scientifique thanks to a recommendation from the lovely Debbie from This week I have mostly been loving and will try and keep my nails out of my mouth when stressed!

Finally, I had some left over Christmas money and decided to try Clarins Lotus oil (£29) for oily/combination skin. I'd been reading great things about these oils and their benefits on all skin types. These aren't new to Clairns, I believe they have just repackaged this treatment oil with a pipette - less options for clumsy old me to spill it everywhere. I bought it yesterday and used it for the first time last night. Not only did it make my skin feel lovely, it smelt divine. I also got a sample of the Blue Orchid oil for dehydrated skin to give that a whirl.

INM : OutTheDoor Topcoat

Just a quick post to say that I'm really enjoying using Out The Door top coat in place of Seche Vite. I picked it up in Las Vegas for about $6 and I keep reaching for it every single time I paint my nails. I find that it gives my nails a super glossy finish and can certainly hold its own against Seche!

I also know that I'm not the only lover of Out The Door. I saw the Welsh wonder, gorgeous Georgia from Georgia:OnMyMind selected this top coat as one of her top 11 of 2011. Praise indeed. I can now see why she loves it. I think I might have to stock up!

Any other fast drying top coat recommendations?

So legend has it....

Leanne was on her final (and most epic) Las Vegas shopping trip in Sephora (this is the 'Venetian' Sephora - there were others in LV Strip area...and she paid visits to them all!) It had already been quite a day. She and The Boy were due to fly home that evening, but hell, there were last minute purchases to be made and Christmas gifts to buy (another epic story that is still to come!) so she headed to Mecca... Sephora with a spring in her step.

Once the many, final pre-flight purchases were completed, she headed for the door. After a slight detour to make sure she had swatched every single cosmetic in the shop, she looked up, a handsome man caught her eye (The Boy had wandered off at this point). Boyfriend glinted in the sunlight and beckoned her in his direction. She remembered his name, a desire to to taste the forbidden fruit of a new Boyfriend. She lustily grabbed him and drank in his scent...

WOAH, WOAH, WOAH! This is all getting a bit Mills & Boon isn't it? Sorry about that people! *

Back to reality: Basically I spayed Boyfriend on me and skipped out of the shop with my purchases (no Boyfriend! Except The Boy, of course) and went to the airport. Fast forward to a ten hour flight back to the UK. Sitting there howling at Bridesmaids and then I get a whiff of something. Ooooh yum. What's that? Oh it's me and dammit, it's a perfume you can only get in America. Bugger!!

Just my type of man! Obviously a little disgruntled that I only tried this as I was retuning home to the UK, I trawled through the Internet. To my joy, I realised that KateWalsh.com had recently begun shipping to the UK. Ah-ha. The perfume gods were smiling on me once again, all was not lost. Except when I saw the P&P of $30 - the a 50ml of the perfume is only $65. My hopes were dashed again. That's a lot for postage, don't you agree?

Luckily, I remembered that a friend's daughter was headed to NYC for New Year and cheekily asked if Miss W could pick it up for me (waving $65 in my hand and a very pitiful look). The answer was of course yes, because I have lovely friends like Mrs and Miss W who can help an old (*cough*) perfume addict out. And here he is, my new Boyfriend. I already know its LOVE! Good job really. I have another Boyfriend arriving from Texas any day now (Thank you Mrs Mc). Ye-ha, I gots me a Cowboy and a City Slicker!!! It's like Lego collecting isn't it? Will add them to my Certified IT Professional and I'm good to go.

L'Occitane Shea Butter hand cream - I cannot say enough good things about this hand cream. I'm a big fan of pretty much all of the L'Occitane hand creams, but there is just something about this one. Thick, creamy and incredibly moisturising, this is an absolute year round staple for me. Even the Mothership is a convert - and for someone who is not remotely interested in Beauty/Skincare, that takes some doing!
Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush in Pop - I have seen these Watercolour Blushes for a while and wondered what they would be like, but never actually got around to purchasing. Then in the Summer, Escentual.com launched a limited edition shade 'Pop' with £5 of every purchase going to Macmillan Cancer Support. Say no more, I logged on and purchased. Wow, I'm so glad I did. Never mind the warm fuzzy feeling that you get for donating to a fantastic charity, it made me look pretty good too! Well, as good as I ever look. It looks beyond terrifying in the bottle. But once you squeeze a single drop (and I truly mean a single, solitary drop!) of this watermelon liquid onto your hand and blend into the apples of your cheek, you'll notice an amazingly natural flush, that stays put all day. Some days, I use it as a base before applying a powder blusher. Good news is that you can still purchase 'Pop' here I think I'll have to order a backup and try out other colours in the range.
Sephora Mineral Powder brush - has been my foundation brush of choice since June 2010 Purchased from Sephora in Times Square, on the most fantastic trip to New York for my 30th Birthday. I've used this brush every single day since and it's still perfect. Its never shed, gone weird when I wash it, nothing. Its just perfect, every single time. I love it. Enough said.
Revlon ColorStay- my HG foundation. Great coverage, fantastic longevity, amazingly cheap price.
MAC Fix + - has become a staple in my daily routine. I spray my Sephora foundation brush with it prior to applying ColorStay to ensure a flawless application. Can also be used as a facial mist/setting spray.
Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP - was my Birthday present from Nic and what a pressie. Absolutely love it. Always get comments when I'm wearing it. Sexy, grown up and the complete antithesis of me! The beginnings of my lust with Tom Ford - you mark my words.
Alpha H Liquid Gold - talked about this a million times over. Love. It. Thank you again Mrs Hirons
Benefit They're Real mascara - another birthday present, this time from Ames. Literally does what it says on the tin. Gives length, volume and definition to even the most puny lashes. My two issues with it are the price (roughly about £18 a pop) and the fact that it is a complete bugger to get off!! That being said, I will certainly re-purchase after I have waded through my stash of mascara. I have accumulated a fair few mascara's in 2011, most of which are new to me and I'm challenging myself not to purchase mascara in 2012.
Urban Decay Primer Potion - love this in all its many guises. Original, Sin, Eden and Greed. Love them all. Changed eye shadow for me - forever!
Avon Supershock (black) and Prestige Total Intensity (brown) eyeliners - if I don't use one, I use the other. Great basic black/brown eyeliners. Supershock is fairly easy to get hold of from the Avon website, but the Prestige Total Intensity is going to prove a little more difficult to source.
Urban Decay Naked Palette - what is there to say that hasn't already been said a million times over? A great palette of neutrals. Perfect eye make up every time, from the subtlest wash of colour and definition for daytime, to the sootiest smoky eye for evening. Didn't think it could get any better, then Urban Decay launched Naked 2 in the States and soon to appear in the UK. The Boy purchased the Naked palette for me last year and has kindly offered to furnish me with the Naked 2 palette. I'm seriously one lucky girl.

Accidental Shopping

Today was one of those days. My first day back at work after the Christmas break - fun! On the way home I popped my head into Boots looking for something else. As is often the case for this time of year, I found myself at the sale section. Merely to see what had been left once the vultures (myself included) had picked over the highly prized sale carrion and my eyes fell to this. YSL Belle D'Opium. Debenhams describes the scent as:

The new addiction by Yves Saint Laurent. A woman full of ambivalence, elusive and obsessive, powerful and troubling, ingenue but dangerous. Her perfume, a disconcertingly bewitching new oriental.

Sounds like me and my mood today!

An overdose of rare and precious ingredients: the narcotic scent of Casablanca Lily blends with spicy swirling Incense and mysterious overtones of a Nargileh accord. Her bottle, tinted with electric blue, is crossed by a flamboyant red wick, defining the line that unites it with her skin.

I've smelt this a few times and decided it had to be bought, so in the basket it went.

I then happened upon the Chanel counter. I have to admit, I'm quite taken with Chanel at the moment. I picked up a Rouge Coco Shine in Boy and was able to foot the bill with my Boots Advantage Card points. Yipppeeee! I've wanted this for ages. Boy is the perfect choice for me. Pretty, neutral everyday MLBB shade. Plus, it kind of reminds me of The Boy (awww smushy). I've a feeling this will be getting a lot of love from me.

Right, time for me to be reunited with my beloved PJ's. This working for a living really gets in the way of PJ time!

Make Up Products that never get to play out.

There are some products that I just don't use, I own them, I like them but when it comes to my daily make-up routine they're either just too time consuming to bother with, an accident waiting to happen, or they just get routinely overlooked. Here are my regular stragglers.

Eyeliner; Now, I adore eye liner but I just don't have time for it on a daily basis. Maybe I'm just too neurotic about making my eyes match that I ruin it for myself ? I just don't have the patience to reach for it daily. A winged eye is my “look I made an effort' staple though.

Contour; Do me a favour! Nobody is fooled, my cheekbones have been absent for some time and the right shade is impossible to find.

Bronzer; On my albino skin? No.

Concealer/Corrector; I'm lucky that I don't often suffer from spots but when I do, I don't care! I just leave them alone, if foundation isn't enough to cover them then the world will just have to deal with it. Occasionally something may find it's way under my eyes but then it will inevitably crease so I often don't bother.

False lashes; No, I'm far too afraid of an awful Silence of the Lambs travelling lashes moment (I'll spare you a picture but if you get the reference * high five * )

Brow powder/pencil; This is one of those products I'd like to get the hang of however I feel I have two black slugs molesting my brow whenever I brave an attempt, so I've turned to tinting, taming and allowing them to stand proudly alone.

Lip liner: I have a prominent cupids bow and always feel too 'done' or reminiscent of a bad panto drag act, so I give that a miss! Unless it's Boot's No:7 in Nude

Products I always, always reach for include, foundation, mascara, eye shadow, blusher, highlighter and lipstick or balm. I'm in way over my head trying any harder than that, I'd love to perfect using each of those products but alas I am too afraid that I'll step over that dreaded line that lies between polished and Jodie Marsh *shudder*

The Body Shop: Hand Cleanse Gel

Whilst purchasing items from The Body Shop sale, I stumbled across these new Hand Cleanse Gels at the till. I find it's always handy to have these little hand gels about your person/in your handbag/on your desk for a quick refresh. At work, some of my 'customers' (for want of a better word) are almost certainly hygienically challenged. So these little hand gels are nothing short of a work staple for me. I love the Bath and Body Works 'Pocket Bac', but as they are quite tricky to get hold of from this side of the pond, I'm always on the look out for alternatives. I think these may just fit the bill.

A quick check of The Body Shop website tells me that there are 6 versions, Coconut, Mango (both above), Pink Grapefruit, Satsuma, Strawberry and Sweet Lemon, retailing for £2.50 each. Not quite the range that B&BW's have, but it's a start! Although it doesn't mention this on the website, when I purchased in-store (30th December) they were on 3 for 2.

The Boy is full of cold at the moment and I am fanatically wiping all surfaces with anti-bacterial wipes and then using the Hand Cleanse. I'm pretty certain I'm fighting a loosing battle and I'll slowly succumb to the lurgy, just in time for work tomorrow! I can already feel the slight tickle in the back of my throat. Joy!

December Empties

I don't know about you, but December went super fast for me. Coming back from Las Vegas to a manic time at work and then Christmas - it's been non-stop!

I haven't really got through masses of product this month, but there is some make up. Oh yes there is. Here are the products that I finished off in December.

L'Occitane Shea Butter hand cream - best EVER hand cream. Love it. Have multiple back ups.
Maybelline Falsies mascara - thought this was okay, but wasn't necessarily wowed. Won't repurchase for the time being, as I have a tonne of mascara to get through in 2012. More of that to follow...
Elemis Cellular Recovery capsules - I really like these high potency skin capsules. The premise is that you use the pink oil filled capsules for the day time (rose) and green for the evening (lavender) The only thing I would say is that I didn't really use the rose capsules in the day. I have combination skin and so I didn't really trust my skin to behave. That being said, I could have been worrying about nothing - which is generally the case! I think these are lovely for a treat for tired, stressed out skin, but I don't think I'd keep using them as part of my regular routine.
Alpha H Liquid Gold - now this product has become a firm favourite in my routine. Since Mrs Hirons suggested Liquid Gold to me, there isn't a week that passes where I don't use it. Love it and have back ups. Thank you Mrs H!
MAC Fix + - daily use product. Must buy more.
TRESemme Instant Refresh dry shampoo - Didn't really rate this. Made my hair feel a bit crispy and sticky, if that is possible? Will resume use of Batiste and keep searching for the prefect dry shampoo.
bareEscentuals Buxom Gloss in Zena - well this is indeed a sad day. I love these glosses, no surprise there. But this particular shade was perfection and so not a typical 'me' shade. Think it was a custom colour for QVC UK. I even looked for it in Sephora while on my hols, no sign of it. I literally scraped every last drop out. Ah well, there are other Buxom glosses in my stash, but I will always have fond memories of Zena.

Resolutely Resolving

For 2012 my resolutions are a list of thing to DO rather things to fail at NOT DOING, I'm working on the theory that it's much easier to do something than to undo it once you've gone and done it anyway!

3) Save lots, I want to be debt free by 2013
4) My only DON'T - I will not ever, never, diet again. I will...

NYE NOTD: Nails Inc Chelsea Embankment

What do you do when you can't sleep? Read? Watch TV? Just a touch before 5am this morning, I took this picture of my NYE manicure. Madness!

I usually don't like glittery nails, but Chelsea Embankment from the recent Nail the Day TSV (classic gold glitter - no, really?) just spoke to me. I'm coming down with something and I'm severely sleep deprived, so I think I can be excused a frivolous nail polish choice to end the year with.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much. Often a good solid block of colour/glitter requires at least three to four coats to reach the desired look. However, if I had been a little more precise with the application I could have easily managed with one. Super dense and chock full of glitter particles: this maybe the best glitter polish I've ever owned.

Thankfully it doesn't feel particularly gritty on the nails - as that's a massive deal breaker for me! It looks so eye catching and sparkly. I can't stop staring at it. I know I won't look forward to removing it though. Glitter polish is notoriously difficult and time consuming to remove. Still, I'm happy with it for this evening.

Boxing Day Bargains 2011

As is the norm for Boxing Day (well, the norm for me anyway!) I popped along to Boots with The Boy, to dispose of my Christmas vouchers (Thank you Aunties, Cousin, MiL and FiL) and didn't I do well?

With my gift vouchers I managed to swoop in and collect:

Loverdose 30ml collection (and I got a bottle for Christmas from my Little Bro - I think I really love this stuff!)

Then, by the power of Boots Advantage points ( I had just over 10300 points!) I treated myself to Elie Saab which I had really lusted after and Givenchy Very Irresistible L'Intense. I love the original, so anything that had intense in its name, well I'm bound to love that too. Actually, I really need to just say how impressed I am that Givenchy steered away from the body lotion/shower gel combo for their gift set and treated it's customers to a roller ball perfume (Hello perfume houses! Why do we not have more of these in the UK... The Americans have lots of options for roller ball scents! Sorry, rant over.) which I personally love and a little candle. Total winner for me. Big thumbs up for Givenchy.

So that is my perfume collection sorted out for the rest of the year. Did anyone find any other amazing bargains in the sales? I'll be out with my friend on Thursday, so I may unearth a few more bargains. Watch this space...

Black Friday at Bath & Body Works

On Black Friday, I entered Bath & Body Works with a little trepidation. I'm not sure what I was expecting. Perhaps a stampede? What I found was a whole host of lovely SA's and some seriously divine smellies.

As I walked in I was informed that if I spent $40 (don't dare me!) you could buy a VIP tote bag of selected goodies for $20 that retailed for over $125. Made great financial sense to me! So I began sniffing and debating my purchases - whilst worrying about the weight of our luggage on the flight home. The Boy told me not to worry, approved the choices and after a short while we headed to the till.

I did quite a bit of beauty shopping whilst in Las Vegas. However, my shopping was positively minuscule compared to Annabella (aka Skin Scrubs) who massacred the beauty aisles and taught me how to shop the American way! Thank you my lovely friend Annabella, although I needed no encouragement!

Nails Inc "Nail The Day" TSV - Tuesday 13th December on QVC

Ladies, what will you be doing as the clock strikes midnight tonight? In fact, don't answer that!! I'll be in my PJ's tuned into QVC for the launch of the "Nail The Day" Nails Inc TSV and wow-wee it promises to be a fab one. I was a little on the fence about this and didn't know if I was going to go for it. Then The Boy very kindly offered to purchase for me and send it off to Father Christmas for delivery on the 25th December. Yay! How could I refuse?

The colours are lovely, wearable classics, glitters, over glaze and metallic's - oh my! There really is something for everyone here. If you feel a little bad about treating yourself so close to Christmas, perhaps you could repackage and make smaller gifts for a few lucky friends and family....while sneaking one or two out for yourself. Well, you've been a good girl haven't you?

Nails Inc - The Wyndham Collection

Naughty Hannah (Snowdrop85) made me need this gorgeous Nails Inc collection when she blogged about her love for the Gossip Girl sets. I have to admit, I've never seen Gossip Girl. I'm not sure I would know it if I fell over it, but I loved the look of the polish.

I was so good, I didn't cave in and buy it before I went on holiday. But during one of my many, many visits to Sephora I noticed The Wyndham Collection sat on a shelf. Staring at me. Ah-ha I had birthday money, so I didn't feel bad about purchasing! This cost me $20 (roughly £12-£13 odd) for a set that retails in the UK for £20 (just over $31) - Bargain!

You begin by laying down the blackened teal base colour and add the special effects polish to take the manicure to a whole different level. Obviously, this polish is shown to best advantage in the sunlight (picture below). I personally think its gorgeous in any light! You'll have to excuse the haphazard application and slightly dehydrated cuticles, but I was on my holidays!!

Wednesdays. They're boring aren't they? I prefer to call Wednesdays 'hump day' (as in the hump of the week), from there on in you can take a slow slide into the weekend. Anyway, whatever you like to call Wednesdays, they are usually pretty uneventful. Not mine! Not Nic's! Not yesterday!

Yesterday, Nic and I were delighted and beyond amazed to learn that we have been named in Channel 4, 4Beauty Best Skincare Blog's. Surprised? So are we!!

We are both astonished and very honoured to appear on the 4Beauty website. We're still very much in our infancy as bloggers, so to be listed alongside established bloggers we admire and read on a daily basis, is quite simply amazing! Diesel Loverdose - I love to hate you!

I caught the advert for Diesel Loverdose and was instantly turned off to this fragrance. I didn't like the advertising (cheesy), I hated the bottle (tacky), didn't like the name (don't you think it sounds like an STI?!). There was literally nothing on paper that I liked about this scent. Not one thing. And yet, when I caught sight of it in Boots I thought, I'm going to have to smell this to see how awful it is. I hope I'm not the only person that does that? I am, oh God. I'm stranger than I though!

Anyway, I gave it a sniff and to my horror, not only did I not hate it - I actually thought this is quite nice!!! I immediately left the perfume section, slightly disgusted with myself and continued to browse the store. I completed my purchases and as I walked to the exit I thought, I going to have to actually spray this on me and see how it wears. Against all my better judgement I picked up the twee purple heart shaped bottle, sprayed on my wrist and ran out of the door. Hoping no one had seen me.

Fast forward to my train journey home. I'm sat there, reading my Kindle and generally minding my own business, then I get a whiff of someone and think 'ooooh they smell nice'. This instantly jolts my memory to Loverdose (cringe!) and I begrudgingly gave myself a cursory sniff. To my shock and slight dismay - it's me! I'm the one that smells nice and the smell is bloody LOVERDOSE (double cringe)!!!!

I get home and walk through the door and into the arms of The Boy to a comment of 'mmmmmm you smell nice'. This is not an uncommon event in our house, I'm pleased to say *polishes halo*. So I offer up my wrist and ask, is it this? Which received the response of a deep sniff, a long guttural growl and more mmmmmmmmm-ing. 'Yes! What is it?' No no no no no! You cannot like it too! I tell him, how I hate the advert, the packaging and the name and he simply says 'Yeah, but if you like it. You're just going to have to get over it!' Okay, sulking now.

A few days later, in Boots again and I get a voucher that has £5 of selected perfumes. There front and centre is Loverdose. No, I will not buy this. I don't need it and I don't even like it that much. Except Loverdose does a number on me and for the next week, it's all I can think about

. It reminds me of something and I try in vain to think of what it is. Then it comes to me. Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise (A modern story of vanilla. The fragile vanilla orchid forms the perfect counterpoint to the oaky caramel-rich vanilla bourbon, spiced with star anise. Warm and enveloping.) - my favourite Jo Malone scent. Classy, elegant and not even playing the same sport as Loverdose (An addictive & unique fragrance with top notes of mandarin & star anise, followed by the two key notes of liquorice & rich vanilla followed by a base of sensual dry woods. The stunning Loverdose bottle is an edgy, multi-faceted heart with a dagger through the middle. It represents a beautiful but deadly weapon of seduction), let alone the same league! Or so I thought until I looked at the scent descriptions and realised that they were more similar than I first thought.

I meet up with Nic and we discuss it. She smells it and tells me I should just buy it. And so I do and it turns out I actually bloody love it!! I kind of hate myself for even typing that, but I do.

Wow! The last time I posted one of my empties posts was August!?! And I was doing so well. Needless to say, I've still been using things up. Even if my posting has gone awry. Eek!!

Paco Rabanne Black XS EDP - I love this perfume. You know I don't subscribe to the usual "this is a day fragrance, this is a night fragrance" and so this pretty much became my go to scent for work. I know some people might keep this for evening, but not me. If I didn't know what I felt like wearing, I reached for this and thanks to my Little Bro's Christmas gift last year, I have another bottle waiting in the wings. Boots.com describes the scent as the essences of Pink peppercorn, Tamarind blossom and Cranberry explode with freshness, youth and sensuousness. Then the heart notes of Black violet, Hellebore Rose and Cacao flower enter into play, weaving their own magic. An overdose of Massoia wood in the base notes forms the basis of Black XS for Her, with patchouli and Tahitian vanilla underscoring the luscious, feminine and sexy side of this bewitching fragrance
La Roche-Posay Physiological Micellar Solution - This might be my second or third bottle of this. I really like this gentle cleansing solution for eyes, lips and face. It doesn't irritate it just cleans. I generally use this as a pre-cleanse prior to my Clarisonic. I will certainly repurchase when I head to Boots today.
Classics Nail Polish Remover - Cheap and cheerful. Nothing special about this remover.
Lacura Multi Active Serum - A product that received massive hype about it's anti-ageing benefits for the amazingly cheap price of £3.49! Did I notice any massive difference? No. Did I enjoy using the product? Yes and on that note, I'd buy it again if I am passing Aldi.
Revlon Colorstay foundation - I love this. I have back-ups. Enough said!
Ghost Deep Night EDT -This is another fragrance I really enjoy and I am sad to see the back of this, as I haven't got a back-up. Good news is, this is usually reduced in the post Christmas sales. Hopefully I can scoop it up as part of my Boxing Day Bargains! Boots.com says Ghost Deep Night is an oriental vanilla fragrance that is sensual and passionate. Ghost Deep Night takes its wearer into the world of feelings between day and night. Created for the woman who is not only strong, self-confident, and clever. But also sentimental and romantic as well. A freshly oriental composition. A fragrance made for love - and loving.

Original Source Vanilla and Strawberry shower gel - This smells like Strawberry milkshake, which I don't actually like, but do like the scent of! Weird I know. Nice enough, but I prefer the Mint shower gel versions from Original Source.
Lancome Juicy Tube in Marshmallow Electro - Probably my favourite lip gloss range and one of the nicest colours. It applies almost clear with a hint of shimmer with a totally divine scent (and taste!) Perfect for use alone or over another lip colour. These mini versions are also ideal for throwing into a pocket.
Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser - This came as a sample in a GlossyBox and I was excited to try the Murad brand. This is a really nice cleanser and when I need to repurchase cleanser (I'm working through a stack at the moment!) I'll certainly consider this one.
The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion - Nice enough but a little overpriced in my opinion. Have other scrubs that I prefer to use, so I don't think I'll repurchase this one.
Soap & Glory Mist You Madly - I quite like this body spray, but I prefer it's sister Glam-A-Lot.
Yes to Tomatoes Trouble Free Facial Wash - This is another cleanser that was okay, but didn't wow me - so I'm glad it's gone! As I mentioned earlier, I'm not in the market for cleanser at the moment. However, unlike the Murad cleanser, I don't think I'd repurchase this.

Back to earth with a bump (well, a swollen face and dental abscess - but I won't bore you with that!) from Viva Las Vegas. We flew in yesterday morning so we are still a bit all over the place, but we had a fantastic time. Sephora was hit quite severely, as was Bath and Body works. More of that to come...

Still can't quite believe that Christmas is just around the corner. I've got a horrendously busy few weeks coming up in work and I really could do with another holiday to get over Vegas. I guess I'll have to wait for Christmas for that.

When my order arrived from Ojon.co.uk, this was how it looked! Now, while I am so glad that they go to great pains to protect your order, from Royal Mail, the mounds of shredded paper made a right mess everywhere. No big deal I guess, but it did annoy me - just a touch.

Having looked around I noticed a code that gave you a duo of the Damage Reverse Restorative Shampoo and Conditioner for free. That can't be right, surely!

So I ordered the Volume Advance kit and input the code, crossed my fingers and held my breath. Look at what arrived!!??

I would tell you all about the code, but it is no longer working so it would be unfair to tease you in that way. Still, I thought I'd share my order with you. They are single use sachets, but it still gives you a chance to try out new products each time you order. I treated myself to this Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose Fragrance Gift Set last week. Personally, I think it was a bargain at £34 considering the 30ml perfume alone is the same price. I've noticed that this set keeps going in and out of stock in my local Boots. So if you want this, I would snap it up while you still can!

The set includes Tresor Midnight Rose EDT 30ml, 3 mini Juicy Tubes in Marshmallow Electro, Lychee and Fraise and 3 Hypnose miniature mascara's (Hypnose, Hypnose Drama and Hypnose Precious Cells). I thought this was a great chance to try the mascara. I already know I love Juicy Tubes and I really like the fragrance.

Yeah, about the fragrance! Lancome describes it as:

Models Own/Diet Coke Freebies

Don't even ask why this picture is the wrong way around. Grrrrrrrrr! Blogger is seriously vexing me tonight...

Anyway, for those of you that are interested I thought I'd show you the Models Own/Diet Coke glosses I picked up. You can select one gloss for free when you purchase of 2 bottles of Diet Coke (or in my case Diet Cherry Coke) from Boots.

I got my 2 bottles of Diet Cherry Coke and selected Pure Plum from the four Christmas Kisses glosses in the collection. I thought I'd see how I went with one, as I had never tried Models Own gloss before. I needn't have worried. I loved them instantly. Pure Plum is a sheer, non sticky gloss with plenty of Christmas sparkle - although it's not gritty! I cant bear that! So on the way home, I made a slight detour for another 2 bottles of Diet Cherry Coke and grabbed Golden Nude as well.

I know I'll be doing this, because QVC have decided to answer my prayers, and have revealed that the Clarisonic Plus is the star of Beauty Day. If the rumour's I've heard are true, it's on easy pay - Result! *** UPDATE- It's on the maximum 4 Easy Pay's***

I've wanted to try a Clarisonic for ages, but I've always baulked at the cost. I figure that if I take advantage of this deal, I can try it without fear of making a terrible and costly mistake and if I really don't like it, I can send it back. That''s one of the massive plus points with QVC. I know people complain that the shipping costs are pretty high. And they are! But what other retail outlet lets you buy something, use it and return it for a refund within 30 days? The no quibble refund policy is particularly advantageous when you are spending a fair bit of money. This is a win/win situation for me and probably others out there who do not want/cannot afford to make an expensive balls up, particularly with Christmas just around the corner.

Pressies from the Parental Units

When the Parental Units returned from their holiday in the North East coast of America, they brought me a few little make up treats. How nice of them! I'd asked them to keep a look out for the Wet n Wild eye shadow trio's. After a game of text tennis, we established that I wanted the Walking on Eggshells and Silent Treatment trio's - if they could find them. After much searching they managed to find them in Target.

Parental Unit #1 (The Mothership) also thought I might like Knock on Wood trio and a Revlon CustomEyes (Naturally Glamorous shadow/liner set plus mascara) kit too. You were so right Mum! The Revlon eye shadows were so cute. They looked like they had been knitted. I've heard good things about the CustomEyes mascara too, so I am excited to give that a try.

17 Magnetized Nail Polish

I love these nail varnishes!

They're £5.99 each in Boots and they are included in the make up 3 for 2 that is on at the moment. Hence the reason I went in for one and came out with three! There is also a green colour, I don't have that yet. But I will...

I've thrown it on with my current manicure, OPI's Cuckoo for this Colour. Well, I had to try it as soon as I got home. Really love the look of this. It reminds me of one of those moving picture books I had as a child. I can seriously see myself being very distracted in work tomorrow, as its really quite mesmerising. I'm looking forward to using it for a full manicure at the weekend.

What do you think? Are you a yay or nay?

Burberry Body

I was probably one of thousands of people who signed up on Facebook for a free sample of Burberry's newest addition to their fragrance stable, Burberry Body.

I fairly hefty 4ml sample landed on my doormat last week. What do I think of it?

The blurb says: An effortlessly sensual, feminine fragrance with an eclectic combination of refined ingredients. Top notes of fresh green absinthe, illuminating peach and delicate freesia. Floral heart notes of natural rose absolute, iris and warm sandalwood. Base notes of woody cashmeran, creamy vanilla, amber and musk

I like it, but it's not really me. It's probably just a little too floral for my nose and even the additions of sultry amber, sandalwood and vanilla don't do it for me. In my mind, this would be a nice daytime fragrance. Classy and understated. It retails at £75 for 85ml and can be purchased from here

Benefit - They're Real! Mascara

How lucky am I? My gorgeous friend Amy (@SalsaAmy) sent me a belated birthday pressie that made me squeal with excitement. The much hyped Benefit They're Real! mascara was gifted to me last Saturday and I couldn't have been happier. I've been wanting to give this a try since I saw the reviews flooding the blogsphere and YouTube.

The wand is amazing! Like an instrument of torture from Medieval times. The inclusion of the spiky ball at the tip (think Givenchy Phenomen'eyes) helps to lift and define each individual lash. I've used it for a few days this week and so far I love it. Do I love it more than anything else? Only time will tell. I have had a crazy time at work and have been experiencing mammoth work days of 12 hours plus and I've still managed to look pretty presentable when I've finally managed to escape the office. Well, as presentable as I ever am!

Amy asked for a full review. It appears that I am the product guinea pig, before Amy makes a purchase for herself. I have no problem with that whatsoever!! hehe. Promise to report back Ames and thank you again lovely! x

August Empties

I'm getting quite good at this using things up lark! Making a conscious effort each month to use up some of my stash, has made me truly appreciate the products that I really love and depend upon. A 'separating the wheat from the chaff' if you will. There are items that I have already or intend to repurchase. I still want to try new things, I just am getting a bit better at reigning myself in and thinking - have you got something similar at home.

The flip-side of this coin is that I realise what I really cannot wait to get rid of. It's usually the things that you like the least, that seem to take an eternity to use up. Does anyone else find that? So what have I used this month?

Givenchy Ange Ou Demon - beautiful, classy fragrance. I was upset that I'd used this up, then found another two new bottles. So I'm happy again now! hehe.
The Body Shop Vitamin E facial mist - this is okay. I got it as a kind of make up setting spray, I don't think it was particularly successful for that. But it is quite refurnishing just as a facial spritz.
Lee Stafford Poker Straight Flat Iron Shine Protection mist - another meh product. I have had this for forever. I love how it smells, but I'm not sure that it actually protects my hair from heat styling. I guess we will see if I notice a marked difference now it's finished.
Urban Decay Primer Potion - this is one of those can't be without kind of products. Love this and can't remember what my life was before UDPP.
Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara - was okay. Nothing major. This was a sample size I must have picked up somewhere. Certainly didn't wow me.
No7 Extreme Length Mascara - love it. Read here

L'Occitane 20% Shea Butter Hand cream - my number one hand cream. Would not be without this. Even got Parental Unit Number One (Mothership) onto this one now and she is not remotely bothered by things like this at all! Woah, what an achievement!

Origins Checks and Balances - I like this cleanser, but I don't love it. It does exactly what it says on the packaging. Only sometimes, my skin is left feeling a little tight and almost squeaky clean. Does that make sense? I guess my combination skin is not it's target market and it would be more suited to oily skinned beauties.
Garnier Pure Active Exfo Brusher Wash - love the scrubby bits, they're great. Hate the packaging design and the actual product. I find it really cumbersome to use and quite difficult to get any cleanser on the Exfo Brusher. Plus I find it a little too drying for combination skin.
Original Source Chocolate Mint Shower Gel - really like this although the chocolate brown colour was a little bit off putting. Still, it made for a very refreshing, zingy bathing experience.

Alpha H Rejuvenating Cream - this is a nice moisturiser. Feels a little strange upon first application. It's a bit tingly due to the inclusion of glycolic acid. I'd buy this again.

Belated August Favourites

I thought I might do a quick belated post on my August's Favourites. There are products that you find yourself reaching for, they are not the most exciting, luxurious items. But they are the products you depend on, on a daily basis. Here are a few of mine, that I have relied on in August.

La Roche Posay Physiological Micellar Solution - I really like this solution for taking of my make up at the end of the day. It's free from a lot of chemical nasties and really gets the job done without stripping your skin. This can be used on face and eyes without any problems/reactions. I'll certainly be re-purchasing.
Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream/stick (both pictured) - I use the iconic 8 hour cream every single day. I put some on my lips while I'm getting ready and let it sink in while I do my make up. It's pricey, but it seems to last for ages.
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer - Creamy, blendable and a great colour match.
No7 Contour and Blending Brush - as good as many high end blending brushes on the market and if you get them with a £5 No7 voucher, they cost about £2!!
ELF Shimmering Facial Whip (Lilac Petal) - I got this as a present from a lovely friend and I cannot believe that I hadn't tried it before. I usually use Benefit High Beam, but when that runs out, I think I'll buy another ELF version. It really is just as good, for a fraction of the price. For £1.50 you can't grumble. The other bonus of the ELF Shimmering Facial Whip, is that it comes in a range of colours to suit all skin tones. Check them out here
VO5 Miracle Concentrate - This treatment oil is amazing for the price. I think I paid £2.50 for this little bottle of liquid gold. A few drops are all that's required for smooth, frizz free hair. It's a staple in my haircare routine now.
Max Factor Miracle Touch Blush (Soft Pink) - I use this as a base to layer my blusher each day. A little of this goes a long way and it also helps promote the longevity of any powder blusher choose to use afterwards. You can of course wear it alone for a dewy finish.
Revlon ColourStay - Favourite foundation ever. FACT!
OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go - great handbag essential. The pen applicator makes it very easy to apply on the go. I use it while sat on the train in the mornings. It also makes your nail varnish super shiny.
No7 Extreme Length mascara - I think I got this from a little No7 freebie kit and threw it to one side without much investigation. This mascara lengthens and separates perfectly. I don't find it gives much volume. But I am fine with that. Now I've used up this sample size and I will repurchase - except for the fact I have a lot of mascara to try first. I will return to it though. I really like the wand!
Borghese duo fiber blending brush - I use this brush to apply the Facial Whip and the cream blusher. I think it's fabulous. Plenty similar brushes like this out there on the market, so find one that suits.
Garnier Roll-On Anti Dark Circles - this product provides both treatment and immediate (light) coverage. If you have really bad dark circles, you would probably still need to use a concealer. But some days, I find this is adequate coverage for me.

Seriously, is there a more gorgeous lipstick than this?! Meet Rouge Terrybly in Flirty Rosy! Look at the super cute packaging and the little bag. It's like the dust bag that come's with a new handbag. So pretty. I won this little baby ages ago in Jennifer's (aka Lipstick Luvvies ) fabulous giveaway. Thank you Jennifer! x

This is my go to 'my lips but better' shade, that is suitable for all occasions. Amazingly creamy and opaque in just one swipe, this lipstick screams luxury. I have to say, I love the satisfying magnetic snap closure when the lid is replaced. It's sad to admit that, but it makes me happy. You don't need me to tell you that the packaging is to die for. It's gorgeous!

To be honest, I'm amazed that I've been using this. As you know, when something looks as good as this, I have a problem with 'disturbing' it, for want of a better word. I want it to look perfect forever. But I guess that isn't it the point and it's there to be used and loved. So I bit the bullet and have used and adored it.

I think I am on very dangerous ground here. I've always been more of a lip gloss kinda girl, but the Rouge Terrybly formula has seriously got me reconsidering my previous statement. Already, I am looking at new colours to add to my collection. Jennifer - I'm holding you fully responsible for this!! Nails Inc are coming to a Sephora near you!

Nails Inc are coming to Sephora! That's exciting for all you American/Canadian and even some European readers. Basically, anyone that has access to Sephora should be able to pick up a selection of goodies from the Nails Inc line, if you so desire.

Having just watched the lovely Hannah (aka Snowdrop85) talk about the colours she owns from the collection (you can read Hannah's blog post here or you can watch her YouTube video here), I mooched off to have a peer through my own collection and see what was lurking.

To my surprise and slight dismay, I realise that I own 10 of the 40 odd Nails Inc colours selected for purchase through Sephora. Off the top of my head, I would have said I had about 4. Oooops! And I have maybe between 3-4 shades that I know I have, but can't find at the moment. There is one (Tate) that I know my Mum has got. So here are my offerings (all taken with flash)...

Super Quick Saturday Shopping

The usual weekly pilgrimage to Tesco got a little more exciting this morning. We needed to go to Halfords for a new headlamp bulb. Fortunately for me, the retail park also houses quite a sizeable Boots. So while The Boy headed for Halfords, I made my excuses and ran to Boots.

I had a Boots voucher (from my MIL and FIL) that was seriously burning a hole in my purse. I must have been into Boots about 10 times over the last fortnight, each time I couldn't decide what to spend my voucher on. I stopped short of using it to buy shower gel and Tampax! I wanted something nice for my Birthday. Anyway, I finally decided on Givenchy Play Intense EDP. Some of you may remember that I have been lusting after this for some time and although I absolutely do not need any more perfume, I went ahead and got it anyway.

And because I couldn't just walk in, buy the perfume and walk out. I found myself drawn to the Prestige display. This is not something that is in every Boots (unlike, Bourjois, Revlon, Rimmel etc.) and having heard lots about the brand from American YouTuber's I thought I'd have a look. To my joy (and my bank balance's horror!) All the Prestige make-up was half price. Obviously that set off alarm bells for me. Sounds like the brand is withdrawing from that particular Boots, if not all the Boots stores.

Ordinarily this would bug me. I know I would get something, try it and then be annoyed that I couldn't buy it locally again. Never fear, I will be hop, skipping and jumping across the pond in November (Thanksgiving Day, actually) and should I happen to love anything pictured here, I'll be sure to stock up!!!!

I digress, I bought 3 mascara's My Longest Lashes, My Blackest Lashes and My Biggest Lashes which were all half price, making them a steal at £3.49 each. I also picked up a lovely purple liquid liner (£2.30). I'm loving purple at the moment. My final purchase was another Revlon Just Bitten lip stain in Flame (on offer for £5.99). I think I'll have to do a separate post on my obsession with Lip Stains. A few lines here really will not cut it!

So there we have it. The Boy got (and fitted!) the new headlamp bulb in the time I was in Boots (oops!) and then we scooted off to Tesco to complete the big shop. If you've been shopping, let me know what caught your eye. Anything fabulous?

Sorry for the super late post! I've been a bit wrapped up in work stuff, of late. Anyway, won't bore you all with that.

L'Occitane Milk Shower Cream - LOVE. THIS. STUFF! It is one of my favourite L'Occitane scents. It reminds me of new babies. Clean, warm... Oh I just love it. The Boy loves it too.
Philosophy Caramel Drizzle 3 in 1 Shower Gel - As you know, I love Starbucks and if you have ever had any coffee's or Frap's with the caramel drizzle on them - this smells exactly like that. It's gorgeous and smells good enough to eat. This came from a set that The Boy bought me yonks ago. I'm getting really quite good at using things up.
Philosophy Have a Cherry Christmas 3 in 1 Shower Gel - this was one of my Christmas pressies from Nic. We both love anything Cherry scented. This came in the cutest box. I love Philosophy for their packaging and gift boxes, almost as much as I love the products inside. I really am, a Philosophy girl.
Lacura Multi-Intensive Serum - I know this looks like there is product still in the bottle, but I seriously couldn't get any more out of it. And I tried. I really tried. I can't honestly say I've noticed any earth shaking anti-ageing miracles since using this, but I do really like it and for £3.49 you can't go wrong.
Haus of Gloi Parkin Bubbling Scrub - I really like the HoG products. This one reminded me of Autumn, beautifully spiced and a really great exfoliator. Give the HoG a try if you haven't already. I'll be making a Halloween order very shortly.
Botanics Moisturising Deep Clean Foam - was okay. Nothing amazing, but it did the job. Now that I've used it, I wont be in a massive rush to re-purchase.
Impulse Into Glamour Body spray - I found these a few weeks ago. I can't even remember buying them and Impulse isn't something I've purchased since I was at school!!! I must have bought them though, or have been given them. I honestly cannot remember. Anyway, it was nice enough. Needless to say, I won't re-purchase.

Boots/Macmillan Offer

I popped into Boots on Friday and noticed that they have teamed up with Macmillan to help you give as you spend.

At the moment, Boots have a range of toiletries on offer for a quid. Yes, that's correct, one measly pound. When you buy any of the selected products, they will kindly donate 5p to Macmillan with each purchase.

Whilst I know that is not a massive donation per product purchased, it is something! And we all know that every little helps (sorry Tesco - but it seemed appropriate here!). I was going to buy shower gel anyway. So to donate money to a very worthwhile Cancer charity on my behalf is an added bonus in my eyes. Macmillan is a charity supporting Cancer sufferers and their families. Providing invaluable support and information at a time when they need it most. I particularly appreciate the ethos of caring for people in their own home. Having seen first hand, the fabulous Macmillan Nurses in action, I will do anything I can to support them.

Twitter is bad for your bank balance. Fact.

I mooched onto Twitter in the middle of the day and noticed a few people mentioning the new Sleek Pout Paint's. So I decided to abandon my desk and managed to sweep into Superdrug and snatch up 6 of them to try. Now 6 may seem a little excessive, but these little beauties were £4.99 each and were on a 3 for 2 offer. Thank you very much!!

So here are some very quick swatches for you, in case you plan on heading to Superdrug tomorrow. I'm tired and my bed is calling me... Get on with it Leanne.

The colours I got, are:

162 Milkshake (Peachy-pink)
158 Rosette (Hot pink)
161 Minx (Nude)
153 Cloud 9 (Pure white - For mixing with the other shades)
157 Pin Up (Classic red)
159 Port (Plum)

The Pout Paint's are not dissimilar from the OCC Lip Tar's. Incredibly pigmented and opaque with the smallest amount of product. As with Lip Tar's, I'd recommend the use of a lip brush as they stain like crazy. I'll need to give them a full road test to report on staying power. Simply put, I love them! Lip swatches to follow. Now, it's bedtime.

MUA Professional Starry Night Palette & Giveaway! CLOSED!

The budget make up brand MUA have launched their new MUA Professional range in Superdrug. Keeping with the low cost premise, they have created a range of purse friendly eyeshadow palettes for the cost conscious among us. I picked up the Starry Night palette from Superdrug and paid the measly sum of £4.00. Total bargain!

These 12 eyeshadows are buttery and richly pigmented. With a single swipe providing excellent colour pay-off. If you are a shimmer-phobe, best walk away from these right now! This is a matte free zone. As the packaging states this palette is "A dramatic collection of eyeshadows that will add ultimate glamour to your night out".

I have no idea why the picture below will not upload in landscape. Blogger gremlins again. Sorry if it bugs you (it does me!) but I can't be bothered trying to do battle with Blogger, I just don't have the energy today.

My thoughts? Well, for a meagre £4.00 investment you can't go wrong. I personally would probably not wear the pink/lilac shades. But that is my own personal preference. I think this palette is ideal if you want to try out a new look, without forking out a fortune on high end products. I can't tell you about the longevity of the shadows as I haven't worn them yet, but I imagine them to be pretty decent. All in all, a good thrifty purchase.

Now for the fun bit. I also picked up the palette in Heaven and Earth for someone else to try. This is the one that I've seen reviewed on many blogs over the last week. One of my favourite bloggers, BritishBeautyBlogger got her mitts on the Heaven and Earth palette and reviewed it here.

I guess you could say it's the MUA version of the Naked Palette. Do you want to try this out?

NOTD: Orly Rage

Evening all. Very quick NOTD using Orly Rage. I know there has been much hype about this nail varnish and I have to say that I agree with the praise. This is a gorgeous rosy toned metallic polish. It wont be to everyone's taste, but I personally like metallics on the nail or anything nail look that is out of the ordinary. But hey, that's just my opinion.

This is a really easy polish to wear and has the potential to be a one coat polish. Well, if you don't balls it up like I usually do!

So as usual, my manicure was starting to show a little wear and tear .So I turned to my faithful default manicure hero - the crackle polish. I've been loving a new one of late, Models Own Smash Up polish in Purple. Gorgeous, rich metallic (see a theme here?!) purple that I thought looked eye-catching over Rage. I did say I liked out of the ordinary manicures. Not a great picture, but you get the idea.

Anyone have any interesting nail combinations that you love and want to share? I'm all ears...

Ugh... is it nearly Monday again? Good news is that I have a Dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon. That sentence sounds all kinds of wrong. Looking forward to the Dentist, I must be crazy. Wish me luck!!

Liz Earle Shampoo and Conditioner - these were okay, I wasn't mad on them and I don't think I would buy it again either. On the plus side, it lasted a really long time.
Elemis Melting Cleansing Gel - another okay product. Did the job, but failed to wow me. I won't be re-purchasing this either.
Philosophy Let It Snow 3 in 1 shower gel - this was from a Christmas set ages ago! I love the scent, but I was not that impressed with the iridescent glitter in the product. That was a nightmare to clean away from around the bath.
Elle Macpherson Release the Day bath soak - this was nice enough although it left me a little itchy post bath.
Lush Bubblegum lip scrub - biggest waste of money ever! After being lured into this product by the mouthwatering smell, I've decided I will make my own using a bit of sugar and honey. It will do exactly the same job!!
Bionova Bioactive Cleanser - was one of the products in the first GlossyBox. And yet another 'meh' product for me. I didn't hate it, but certainly didn't love it. And lets be honest, that tiny size is not enough product for me to form an opinion on. Not for me.

SBC Arnica Bath Soak - I love this and so does The Boy. This lightly scented herbal bath soak is great for tired muscles. Always handy to have in your bathroom arsenal.
L'Occitane Almond Liquid Soap (please excuse the scummy outer packaging) - I have this as hand wash in my bathroom. Lovely warm, clean scent that lathers really well and leaves jewellery looking like new. Total bonus!
The Body Shop Almond shower gel - a nice basic shower gel. Can you tell I like Almond scented things?

Birthday EOTD - A how NOT to...

My Birthday EOTD - pretty colourful don't you think?

On Tuesday, Nic and I both turned 31. And while Nic hopefully had a lovely day, I was (and still am) severely under the weather. I won't bore you with the details, but I'm having problems with wisdom teeth/abscess which I am now receiving treatment for. Needless to say, I don't do anything by halves and I have also been very sick, as well as in horrendous pain. Hence my black and bloodshot eyes. Who gets black eyes from being sick? Well, I do!

The Boy has been a total superstar taking care of me and has postponed my birthday celebrations until I'm well again - who knows when that will be. That also means I've had to delay birthday cocktails with Nic. Not impressed! Fear not, I should be back to full capacity and normal service should resume shortly...

Popped into The Body Shop the other week and made a few purchases from the Honey Bronze collection. I've since then, stashed them away somewhere and promptly forgot about them... until now.

I bought both of the Honey Bronze Lip Nectar's in 01 Coral and 02 Sand. Luckily for me, if you bought two products from The Body Shop make up line, you got to choose a free mascara.. I picked the Define & Lengthen, but I haven't tried that yet. However, I can tell you about the Lip Nectar's and unfortunately I'm disappointed.

The colours are beautiful. Coral is opaque orangey coral and provides an instant pop of colour. Sand is a beautiful barely there shade that would add a lovely sheen to the lips. But I have to say they don't smell as nice as I'd imagined. In a range called Honey Bronze, you'd expect a nice honey scent. I can barely pick up any scent at all and for £9.50, I personally could think of better ways to spend my money on other brands of lip gloss.

I think I was also further disappointed as the Hi Shine Lip Treatments I usually get are amazing. They look fabulous on, are moisturising and smell divine. Maybe there was something wrong with the Lip Nectar's I purchased, so please tell me if that is the case. Sadly, I will use the Lip Nectar's, but it will not be the beautifully honey scented experience I was imagining.

Has anyone else tried anything nice from the Honey Bronze collection? Or The Body Shop in general?

NARS Dogon

I'm a NARS virgin. Sorry, I was a NARS virgin. There I said it. Excluding the Orgasm illumunator I received in the May GlossyBox I have never purchased a NARS item... until now. So when I saw the 2011 Summer limited edition Dogon shadow duo feature on other blogs, I looked on with interest.

Jane from Modesty Brown gave a thorough review, comparing and contrasting Dogon to the NARS Rajasthan duo which you can read about here And obviously, anyone with an ounce of sense has already seen Helen from Just Nice Things amazing and informative post The Story so NARS - but if you haven't - YOU SHOULD!!

Needless to say, I had to get my mitts on Dogon and not having a NARS counter near me, I was a little unsure about purchasing online. I like to see things in person.

So as we were on our way to the Take That concert, I performed a little detour and ran into Selfridges in Manchester. The Tom Ford counter nearly had me distracted but I mooched through the endless lines of SA's to NARS.

So after initially thinking "what is all the fuss about?" when I saw the duo in person, I nearly collapsed with shock at how gorgeous these shadows where when I began to swatch. I don't think that in the pan, they appear to be anything out of the ordinary. However, let me just stand corrected.

These are two of the most beautiful and unique shades I've seen in ages. They are quite simply gorgeous in their own right, but when mixed together they create an amazing hybrid that is stunning. I don't even believe that these pictures do it justice. So beautiful.

I haven't actually used Dogon yet. There hasn't really been an appropriate occasion and work has been a bit fraught this week. I actually think I may début it tomorrow when I visit Parental Unit number 2 for Fathers Day. Not that my Dad will notice! I get the feeling this wont be my last purchase from NARS...

NOTD: Nails Inc Montagu Place

What's nicer than a really bright colour for Spring/Summer? Nails Inc Montagu Place is a vibrant pinky coral shade, that could almost be mistaken for fluorescent in some lights. To me, this shade just screams 'sunny day'!

This was my polish of choice for the Take That concert. Unfortunately, after a gorgeous day it decided to rain just as the Pet Shop Boy's were finishing whipping the 55,500 people into a frenzy before the main event. At least the crap weather didn't last very long!

I knew something was going to go wrong. I was just feeling happy with my nails. They were almost all the same length. I'd loved and nurtured to them to an optimal level. However, disaster struck as I was leaving work on Friday night. I was trying to get (naughty) Dora out of my drawer at work. In case you are wondering, Dora is my Radley handbag. No, I'm not mad. I haven't given my handbag a pet name. I'm mad but I'm not that mad! It's the name of the bag! Seriously, it is.

Anyway, as I pulled Dora out of the drawer, my nail went backwards and if you follow me on Twitter (@LeanneOCD) then you have seen the TwitPic of the calamity that was my badly broken nail. It was SO BLOODY SORE let me tell you!!

Now, I know me. As a former nail biter, I knew I couldn't leave all the other nails. I'd have picked/bitten them to death. So I got home from work and chopped them all down to sort of the same length. That was pretty hard to do. But I needed to do it properly, before I wrecked them and began the cycle of self loathing. So don't be surprised if my next NOTD début's stumpy little nails - Booo freakin hooooooooo!

Lanolips Lip Ointment - Rose

I only got this yesterday as I was passing through Manchester on my way to the Take That concert (and it was AMAZING by the way!) and I am hooked already!! I made a slight detour into Boots and luckily the Manchester store had the Lanolips range in store.

I've been wanting to try these lip ointments for ages and I have heard nothing but good things about them. With over 60% of medical grade lanolin, they are extremely moisturising as well as providing a slight hint of colour. They don't smell of anything in particular but they do feel lovely and silky on your lips. I chose the Rose version and as they were on 3 for 2, Nic and Caroline (another friend) picked one each. We actually all went for the same colour as it looked so nice on the SA.

If you are looking to try these ointments, they are carried in larger Boots stores or online at Boots.com where the 3 for 2 is still applicable. I want to try the Lemonaid version but they are out of stock both in the shop yesterday and online. Booooo! I'm sure you will be hearing more about Lanolips from me. I can feel an obsession blooming.

Its been another speedy month and we are already just a day away from June. Seriously, I have no idea where this year has gone! On another happy note, I've gone through a fairly decent amount of products this month. So we have:

Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash - this smells weird to me and you know I'm all about the scent. And this will also probably sound a little strange, but I think it reminds me of Heinz Salad Cream - go figure!?!
Alpha H Micro Cleanse - Love this stuff! A gorgeous minty facial scrub that leaves your skin invigorated and super smooth. Will certainly be re-purchasing.
Leighton Denny Essential Remover - Possibly the most effective and nicest smelling nail varnish remover. One of those workhorse products that is simply a pleasure to use. Will re-buy the full size.
The Body Shop Earth Lovers 'Watermelon and Eucalyptus' shower gel - nice but not my favourite scent from the range. I picked this one for The Boy, so I didn't expect to love it. Still, it was a really nice shower gel.
The Sanctuary Warming Microbrasion Polish - I wanted to have a rest from the No7 Microdermabrasion scrub that I love, so I decided to try this instead. It's nice enough. Not gritty enough for my liking although it is more like a self heating clay mask. So if you want a multi tasking product, this could be for you. The scent is nice too, just a very feint hit of rose. Nice, but not for me.
Calvin Klein Obsession body wash - I NEVER use these perfumed shower gel/body lotions that come in perfume sets. But I am making a conscious effort to do so from now on. I love Obsession. I realise this is not everyones cup of tea (or coffee in my case) but I find it to be a very sexy scent. I wouldn't buy it as a stand alone product. However, if it came with the perfume I'd certainly use it. See, can you see my new leaf that I just turned over.... hehe.
Soap and Glory Scrub Em and Leave Em - Nah, not for me. Didn't rate the scrub or the scent. There are plenty of other scrubs that I prefer.
Lush Snow Fairy shower gel - apologies that you cannot see the bottle properly, it decided to roll over as I took the picture. I love the smell of this. My Lil Bro got me the set for Christmas. This is one seasonal product that I wish they would make all year round. Such a sweet treat. Hurry up Christmas!!!
Haus of Gloi Vice Bubbling Scrub - I really like the HoG products I have tried so far and this was no exception. Sweet, spicy and quite scrubby. A winner for me.

Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream - oh god, I seriously wanted to hate this, given it's £75 price point. I was certain that it would disagree with my picky skin. But it loved it - dammit! I will not buy this again, unless it is part of a TSV, as this pot was. I just cant afford to maintain the cost. However I did love every single second of its use and as you can see, I wiped the jar clean. There may have been tears before bedtime on the night this ran out. The Boy looked on in bemusement, until I told him the cost, at which point I was promptly told to go to sleep and stop thinking about it! Charming!

NOTD: Nails Inc Denim

It really annoys me that I paint my nails and then forget to take a picture straight away. I'm usually at work or maybe even sat in the bath and it occurs to me that I've missed the golden opportunity to photograph my nails when they look perfect - well, as perfect as I can ever get them!!! Meet Nails Inc Denim from the Nails Inc/Diet Coke collaboration.

As you will be able to tell, these pictures have been taken after two, maybe three day's of wear. And I think they are still looking pretty good. This is a lovely opaque blue creme that translates a lot lighter on camera. In some lights it looked almost teal to me, but these pictures show a bright, vibrant blue. I loved wearing this colour. So pretty. I think I'll have to go and choose a nice bright colour for work this week. Who knows what I'll pick!

(Actually, I'm doing a bit of nail varnish shopping on eBay as I type. Never fear, I will report back on my purchases)

Collateral Damage

I went to a family party last night to celebrate my cousin's 21st birthday. My first thought was to use makeup that I haven't tried before. So I picked up MAC Mineralize Eye colour in 'Earthy Riches' which I got in the Tartan Tale box set last month. I thought that I could create a good smoky eye with this and was excited to give it a try.

Apologies for crappy iPhone pic but I cannot find my memory card reader!! Damn those bloody house elves. If they are going to steal things, you'd think they could come and give the place a little tidy as well...

As you can see the whole 'domed' section from the product had cracked and fallen off. Taking most of the beautiful purple shade with it. You can see from the after pic, there is still plenty of the metallic taupe shade left, but I can't help feeling a bit miffed about it all.

I don't recall dropping or banging the shadow. So I'm not exactly sure what happened to it. As this is my first MAC Mineralized Eye Shadow, is this something that is likely to happen again? I have a split Mineralize Blush (Hang Loose) and that has always been fine, so I just wonder if this a known problem with the eyeshadow or have I been unlucky?

Has this happened to you? Have you opened new products to find they are broken? It's gutting isn't it?!?

My promotion was announced yesterday (and that comes with a whole saga all of it's own, but I won't bore you with that!!) so I should be back to semi normal blogging service soon. NOTD: Nails Inc Augustus Street

Nic kindly gave me Augustus Street in a recent clear out. I loved it in the bottle, then I put it on my nails. And I hated it! It was a matte/suede finish and I'm not so much of a fan of those. I just think matte nail varnish looks like you have tipex'd you nails and then coloured them in. Not nice, well for me anyway. Good news is that you can throw a bit of topcoat over it and it's back to normal. So clearly, I love it again.

In some lights it's grey, some it's a taupe/brown and in other's its the perfect greige colour.

My Thoughts on: Bourjois Bio Detox foundation

Bourjois Bio Detox Organic is the first of the Bourjois foundations that I decided to try out. I've been using it for about a month now, so here are my thoughts.

Bourjois' major claim for the Bio Detox foundation are that it "evens out the complexion, minimizing pores' appearance and concealing imperfections"

Hmmm I'm not sure about that. I think that if you have very good skin from the outset, that this would be perfect. However, if you require a fuller coverage, then I don't think this will be the foundation for you.

I do really like the fact it comes with a pump applicator, as it makes dispensing the product quick and easy. However, I hate that it is packaged in a glass bottle. As many foundations are. I live in constant fear that I will drop it whilst tired one morning and end up covering both myself and all available surfaces with broken glass and foundation. That's just bound to happen on a Monday morning, you mark my words....

Bio Detox seems to dry very quickly. So if you don't work fast, you will end up with unblended blobs of colour at various points across your face! I also found that it appeared to create the appearance dry skin on my otherwise Normal/Combination skin. If my moisturiser/primer had not fully absorbed/set on the skin, it seemed to gather in cakey little lumps - creating the illusion of dry skin. Attractive!

I think the Bourjois Bio Detox foundation is okay, but there are other products on the High Street and certainly in the high end price category, that I prefer. I don't hate it. In fact, I think that on a good skin day, it will be adequate. But it's certainly not a new favourite of mine.

As if to highlight this point further, I went to a friends Wedding Reception on Saturday night. As I stocked up on Revlon Colourstay (while Boots have had their 3 for 2 on), I decided to open a new bottle for the event. Get me, you'd think I was talking about champagne! It took me about 3 seconds to reaffirm my love for this little gem. I had a virtually flawless canvas in less than a minute, which lasted extremely well through several hours of celebratory dancing (and drinking). I just do not think I could praise Revlon Colourstay highly enough.

Anyway, back to Bourjois. Will I buy Bio Detox again? No, I don't think so. However, I won't throw it out and I'll finish the bottle, but I'm afraid that it wasn't really my cup of tea (If I drank tea that is...).

Obsessive Cosmetics Disorder is a year old today!!! CLOSED

Wow, where has the last year gone? On the 2nd of May 2010, Nic and I took our beauty ramblings from text message, email and Facebook and threw them all onto Blogger, beginning with a touch of Bank Holiday Blues. It was simply another outlet to chat about the things we like. And much to our amazement, other like minded people began to interact with us. So here we are a year down the line, with me still rambling on and Nic looking after 3 little ladies with Chickenpox (poor little things!).

Thank you for all your fabulous comments, recommendations and for generally making this whole blogging experience a fun one. As you know, we are on Twitter @LeanneOCD and @NicOCD so come along and say hi to us, we wont bite...unless you ask nicely ;o)

April Empties

Time for empties again. Wow, this year is going fast!! It's May already! I haven't used up that many product this month. I'm still chipping away at the pile of goodies I have. But I am doing quite well. Sadly, there are no make up items...yet!

Anyway, this month we are recycling the packaging of:

Haus of Gloi 'Snow Wolf' bubbling scrub - This was really nice. I wasn't too keen on the scent at first, but it grew on me. It was limited edition at Christmas though, so you wont be able to get it now. However, HoG have tonnes of other amazing products and they are vegan too!!
L'Occitane 'Bergamot Tea' bath and hair gel - Again, this wasn't something that I thought I would like. But the beautiful delicate scent really soothed me into a deep relaxation after a stressful few weeks at work. I'm sad to see the back of this one.

Yes To Carrots 'Can you C me' Eye/Makeup remover - Another NYC purchase. I needed a cleanser and Walgreens happily obliged. I really liked this cleanser/make up remover, but I have seen mixed reviews about it. Unfortunately, it isn't so easy to get hold of here. Just as I decided I liked it, they seemed to withdraw from my local Boots. Not impressed...
Decleor 'Aroma Cleanse - Hydra Radiance Smoothing Cleansing Mousse' - Boy, did I want to love this product. Designed in response to the Decleor/QVC customers desires, I had high hopes for this. However, I hated it. I stung my eyes and it smelled vile!! It kind of had an ammonia tinge to it and for £25.56, I guess I expected a little more. I should have sent it back, but somehow this product slipped past me and missed the 30 day window of opportunity...

Alpha H 'Rejuvenating Cream' - came in an Alpha H kit. It's ok, probably wont re-purchase although I am in the midst of a love affair with Alpha H at the moment.
The Body Shop 'White Musk - Midnight Iris' EDT - I was never a fan of White Musk and the name of this almost put me off. But when I saw this little bottle in TBS Christmas sale for £3 I though, why not. It actually smelled really nice. I guess this might be a little strange to some, but this is my bedtime fragrance. Yes, I know, it's weird. I like to smell nice ok!?!? Even in bed! The late, great Marilyn Monroe once said "What do I wear in bed? Why, Chanel No 5 of course!" - a lady after my own heart.
The Sanctuary 'Illuminating Moisture Lotion - SPF15' - Really, really liked this. Very dewy and illuminating just as the name suggests. This was a mini travel size, but I can see myself purchasing a full size when I need more moisturiser.

Another L'Occitane mini hand cream. I cant find the photo of the actual one I used, so I have borrowed this picture from a previous month. This month was Rose Velvet variant. Nice, but I'm not a rosy kind of gal and just not moisturising enough for my liking.

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo and Conditioner - I forgot how much I like Aussie. Nice products that are reasonably priced and get the job done. They always leave my hair smelling nice too.

NOTD: Sally Hansen HD Nail Colour - Laser

What a total nightmare this is to photograph but boy do I love it! This was a little NYC purchase last June and it still captures my imagination almost 12 months on.

It's a blue polish that has a distinctly purple sheen to it, but it is virtually impossible to catch on camera. You can see the myriad of colours bouncing off the flash, although this polish is almost certainly better in real life.

Laser translates onto the nail like a blue liquid metal, not dissimilar to a Minx manicure. It does take about 4 coats to make it almost opaque. Even then in some lights, it was still possible to see the nail tip. The top picture will give you some indication of the amount of polish used, baring in mind that I have worn this a mere 3 times.

I adore this polish and only wish we had Sally Hansen nail varnish in the UK, not just the treatments/topcoats!

It's a shame that the #100 Powder Kabuki doesn't fit into the brush roll, but you can't have everything. It does come with a useful guide that explains how to use the brushes. And the number/description is printed on each handle, so you really can't get confused.

So far my initial thoughts are that all the brushes are really soft and I haven't noticed any major shedding issues - but I haven't used them yet. So I will refrain on commenting about that for the time being.

NOTD: China Glaze - Coconut Kiss

I've had this on for at least 5 days, before I've remembered to take any pics of this gorgeous colour. Whoops! Actually, I still have it on right now, but it is looking a little the worse for wear. Still, it should last through the day tomorrow - fingers crossed!

China Glaze Coconut Kiss ( from the Fiji Fling collection) is a really vibrant, glossy metallic violet/purple. In fact, it reminds me of Cadbury's chocolate wrappers for those of you in the UK. And for that reason alone, it is a pain in the arse to photograph. In some photo's it looked navy blue, some a flat purple. Nothing I could do, would capture this amazing colour in it's true form. I guess the most accurate colour representation is the one above (taken with flash). It really needs 2-3+ coats to ensure opacity, but if you can push past that, then you can enjoy this beautiful colour.

Lisa Eldridge is a bad influence! Bourjois Foundation's

I've run out of Revlon Colourstay foundation (which I love!) and have been holding off buying a new one until someone has a 3 for 2 offer on, then I can stock up!

I am however, on the hunt for a Chanel foundation. But that high end treat has seriously got to wait until after payday!! Possibly the Vitalumiere Aqua or Pro Lumiere. I'm not too sure yet. Along with the purchase of a Rouge Coco Shine in shade 'Boy' - for obvious reasons.

Anyway, I was on YouTube watching the beautiful and talented MUA, Lisa Eldridge High St/Drugstore favourites video and noticed that she really rates Bourjois foundation. So much so, that it is a staple of her professional make up kit. I'm pretty sure I haven't used a Bourjois foundation for years, if at all! So when I saw Superdrug had a 3 for 2 across the Bourjois range I swooped in and picked up the 3 foundation's that Lisa mentioned. At roughly £6.66 per foundation, I thought this was a good chance to road test them out.

I think I will try them out for at least a fortnight, maybe more and give my thoughts in 3 separate posts.

Pink to make the Boys Wink: From one extreme to the other!

I bought both of these lipsticks at the beginning of the month, whilst out with Sarah (@Sarahln). And neither of which I have worn yet! Isn't that awful?

First up I got Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Colour in Mod Pink (£16) described on the Bobbi Brown website as "A bright pink". I guess this is something that I am going to wear on a daily basis, to add a bit of colour to my face. That is, when I remember that I have it! I love it. It's such a beautiful colour. I did have other pictures of this lipstick, but they keep uploading to the blog at funny angles. So I gave up after the fifth attempt.

And I also succumbed to MAC Impassioned (£13.50), which is an amplified lipstick that is described as "amped up fuchsia". I initially wanted a bright Spring/Summer lipstick - and boy did I get that! But having got this one home, I've been a little cautious about what to pair it with. Hence the reason why I haven't worn it yet.

Needless to say, the lovely MUA Kenneth Soh was on hand and gave me some fab advice (and a bit of confidence) on how to actually wear it. His suggestion was to pat it onto lips with my finger and add a touch of gloss to finish the lip look. Keep brows defined and pair with just a simple slick of mascara. Keeping the look very fresh and all about the pout. So as I am off out tomorrow night to see Peter Kay, that is the look I am going to try out. The Boy will be surprised!

Please tell me that other people buy things, get them home and then are too scared to use them? I really hope I'm not on my own here...

Clinique Chubby Stick

I was extraordinarily lucky to be given a Clinique Chubby Stick by a friend, who thought I'd like to try them out. And I have to say, I love it! I've been using it pretty much every day since.

The new Clinique Chubby Sticks (I love the name!) are the perfect combination of balm/gloss with a hint of colour. The shade pictured is 02 - Whole Lotta Honey and for me, it's the perfect 'my lips but better' shade.

The beauty of these chubby little pencils, is that you don't need a sharpener, as they twist up from the base to reveal the product. And I'm not sure if it was accident or design, but my Chubby Stick is still fairly pointed. This makes it so easy to provide definition to your lips and a hint of colour in one go. It's my go to lazy lip. And you know me, I like a bit of lazy girl beauty.

The Chubby Sticks provide just enough daily moisturisation for me. However, if you have very dry lips, it may not be enough for you and you might like to use a balm underneath for added moisture. I already have my eye on Chunky Cherry, Whoppin Watermelon and Berry Burst. They're available now on the Boots website or direct from Clinique for £14 each.

I Love My Little Bro! Part Two

So last Saturday, my little bro and his girlfriend arrived back to good old Blighty, after an amazing time in the Big Apple. That reminds me, I so need to start looking at organising our trip Stateside. Anyway, little bro was a superstar and managed to get me 2 of the 3 travel exclusive 'Look in a Box' kits from MAC at Heathrow.

So in my possession I now have 'Girl Next Door' and 'Rocker Chick'. I'll apologise in advance that some of these pictures wash the colours out. Sorry! Damn you flash!!

I haven't had chance to use any of my new goodies. I've just been too tired this week and work has been just a tiny bit mental. I'll report back with any firm favourites. But I can already tell, I'm going to love everything!

I've had quite a crappy week, work wise. And I've begun the weekend with a spot of Tonsillitis - nice! I secretly think The Boy is delighted that I'm not speaking much. Although I could be wrong...

Anyway, on Wednesday I came home to an unexpected beauty gift from my lovely friend, Jeanie over at Makeup Merriment. Seriously, I was so overwhelmed I cried. It's funny, I don't cry often, or easily. I'm not one of those women. But some things really catch me unaware, and this was most certainly one of those occasions!

Jeanie, I want to say a huge THANK YOU to you! I'm so grateful to have such lovely friends all over the world.

Accessorize Pigments in Molten Truffle and Wild Moss

When the lovely Louise (aka Get Lippie) blogged about the most beautiful eye shadow she had ever seen, I was interested to see what it was. When she told her readers it cost a mere £1.50 from Superdrug, I was off like a whippet to snap one up. Fortunately for me Superdrug still had the beautiful Molten Truffle in stock and I also managed to pick up Wild Moss too.

I'm not going to explain the finer points of Molten Truffle, Louise did a fantastic job of that already. So I urge you to check out her blog. But I will say that Wild Moss instantly reminded me of MAC Sumptuous Olive. Except a little more green/gold. I find that Sumptuous Olive leans towards a brown hue when blended out. Making a really simple one shadow eye look.

I'm really quite impressed with Accessorize make up. Their eye shadows are beautiful creamy and pigmented for a budget high street brand. I also have a few nail varnishes from their range, but they remain in the untested pile at the moment. Do you have any favourite Accessorize products or recommendations?
